About Glencairn

Glencairn is a very family-friendly community that is rich in history and character. This neighbourhood is located in South Kanata, about 22 km west of downtown Ottawa. If you have your heart set on a detached house rather than a condo or row house, Glencairn homes can give you a lot of bang for your buck. The post-war neighbourhood boasts leafy streets, good-sized lots, and easy access to shopping alongside the Hazeldean Road strip.

The Ron Maslin Playhouse, home of the Kanata Theatre, is located just north of Glencairn in Katimavik. The closest general hospital is the Queensway Carleton Hospital.

OC Transpo is the provider of public transportation in the community, while many residents still prefer to drive their own vehicles. Express bus route 62 provides peak period service to the downtown are, while Route 161 and 164 provide direct access to Kanata Centrum. You can take the back route home from the Canadian Tire Centre, avoiding the Queensway pre- and post-hockey game traffic jams. Though it is a fairly car-centric neighbourhood, there is a park-and-ride at the Eagleson Road bus station, which also offers direct service to downtown.

A family- and convenience-oriented neighbourhood, Glencairn would be a great place to live.
